IT’S OFFICIAL: VETERAN EXEC ACCEPTS TOP METRO POST

Tom Lambert

Tom Lambert, who has been leading METRO on an interim basis for more than a year, is officially the agency’s president & CEO. The announcement was made during today’s board meeting.

I'm very happy to report we have a new and permanent CEO and his name is Tom Lambert, said METRO Board Chairman Gilbert Garcia. "Sometimes the right person for the job is right in front of you and that is what we found."

Lambert’s base salary will be $275,000 and his term of service will run through April 1, 2016. Click here to read the acceptance letter which details terms of the agreement.

Lambert’s career in transportation started in 1979 when he joined METRO. During his tenure, he has served as police chief and later the agency’s chief administrative officer before being asked to temporarily take charge of the agency starting in January 2013.

“This is an honor. I’m excited to work with the METRO Board and staff to provide transit options for this community” said Tom Lambert, METRO president & CEO.

As president & CEO, Lambert leads 3,500 employees and oversees a $1.24 billion annual budget.

METRO is working on expanding its rail system with the roll out of its East End and Southeast lines in the fall, among other notable projects such as Transit System Reimagining, which aims to make the system more convenient and easier to use.
