Severe Weather Causes HOV/HOT Lane Closures/ Other METRO Services Operating with Delays

METRO is encouraging Houstonians to avoid travel if possible due to Friday morning weather conditions.

Icy conditions on roadways are causing METRO to operate as follows:

Local and Park & Ride buses will now offer  regular service but with delays of about 15 to 30 minutes.

  • HOV/HOT lanes: Lanes are  closed due to weather conditions; Park & Ride bus service, Star Vanpools and carpools must utilize main lanes.
  • METRORail is operating normal service; trains will run about every 12 minutes.
  • METROLift  will offer only life-sustaining trips such as dialysis and chemo treatments until noon Friday.

Due to the fluctuating schedules, the METRO T.R.I.P. app is not the best source of “next bus” arrival time information. We encourage customers to call our service line at 713-635-4000. Due to heavy call volume please be patient. Service alerts will also be on our website, www.ridemetro.org.

METRO asks that customers monitor local media, the City of Houston Office of Emergency Management and the National Weather Service for complete forecast information.

METRO will alert media and update its website with additional service impacts as needed.
