METRO PREPS FOR WINTER STORM

METRO is monitoring severe weather expected to hit the Greater Houston area late this evening and into Friday and is prepared to adjust service as needed.

The safety of METRO customers, employees and the public is priority over schedules. Customers should expect delays and possible detours depending on the route and road conditions.

If there are icy conditions on the roadways, METRO will operate service as follows:

  • Local and Park & Ride buses will operate limited regular service. Weather in some parts of the region, particularly west and northwest, may impact our ability to run service in certain areas.
  • HOV/HOT lanes: there is a high probability lanes will be closed due to the projected weather conditions; Park & Ride bus service, Star Vanpools and carpools will need to utilize the main lanes.
  • METRORail will operate normal service with potential delays; trains will run about every 12 minutes.
  • METROLift  will offer only life-sustaining trips such as dialysis and chemo treatments before 9 a.m. Friday. Regular service will resume after 9 a.m., weather permitting.

Due to potential fluctuating schedules, the METRO T.R.I.P. app will not be the best source of “next bus” arrival time info but we encourage customers to call the customer service line at 713-635-4000. Service alerts will also be on our website, www.ridemetro.org.

METRO asks that customers monitor local media, the City of Houston Office of Emergency Management and the National Weather Service for complete forecast information.

METRO will alert media and update its website with any additional service impacts as needed.
