Beginning Sunday, June 7 through Saturday, July 11, the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO) will implement service enhancements to improve reliability and support increased demand during the FIFA World Cup 2026™.
The changes will increase frequency and extend operating hours along key transit corridors and at major activity centers, helping visitors and everyday riders travel more efficiently throughout the Houston area.
Fares will stay the same during the service adjustment period, ensuring continued affordability for riders across the region.
METRORail

Red Line: Extending 6-minute frequency to weekends and until 9 p.m. on weekdays. After 9 p.m., service will operate on a 12-minute frequency. Extending daily hours of operation, with the last train headed northbound to end after 1:30 a.m.

Green and Purple lines: Increasing frequency from every 18 minutes to every 12 minutes, seven days a week.
Park & Ride
Park & Ride service provides direct access to downtown Houston with free parking and fares ranging from $2 to $4.50. During the World Cup, Park & Ride routes will operate seven days a week, with service continuing until midnight.
Community Connector
Community Connector service in the Downtown zone will operate daily from June 11 through July 6 with extended hours. Weekday service will run from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., and weekend service from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., providing access to the FIFA Fan Festival and other downtown destinations.
Local Bus
Several local bus routes will receive additional service to accommodate increased travel demand. Service start and end times are approximate. For exact scheduled departure and arrival times by stop, check your route's schedule on our website.

2 Bellaire: Increasing late night frequency to every 15 minutes and extending daily hours of operation to end after 1 a.m.

20 Canal / Memorial: Increasing daily frequency from every 30 minutes to every 15 minutes and extending daily hours of operation to begin at 4 a.m. and end after 1 a.m.

25 Richmond: Increasing the weekend evening frequency from every 30 minutes to every 15 minutes and extending daily hours of operation to begin before 5 a.m. and end after 1:30 a.m.

82 Westheimer: Extending the daily hours of operation to end after 2 a.m.

85 Antoine / Washington: Increasing the evening frequency from every 30 minutes to every 15 minutes and extending the daily hours of operation to end after 2 a.m.
