METRO Helps Residents Stay Cool During Heat Emergency
METRO is connecting people to cooling centers during the heat emergency. In support of the city of Houston, the Authority is providing free transportation to those needing a ride to and from the cooling centers.
Request transportation by calling the city's 311 service line. The free rides will be available as long as the cooling centers remain open.
The city will extend the hours of operation for the following facilities until 6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and open them to the public from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Below is a list of the centers:
- Sunnyside Multi-Service Center, 9314 Cullen Blvd., Houston TX 77033
- Acres Homes Multi-Service Center, 6719 W Montgomery Rd., Houston TX 77091
- Northeast Multi-Service Center, 9702 Spaulding St., Houston TX 77016
- Magnolia Multi-Service Center, 7037 Capitol St., Houston, TX 77011
- Houston Central Library, 500 McKinney St., Houston TX 77002
