METRORail Service Restored

Service along all three METRORail lines is running normally. Crews completed emergency repairs to overhead electrical wires early today. The work to reinforce the wires at 79 locations along the Red Line extension as well as the Green and Purple lines began a week ago.  After two recent breaks, METRO's leadership took the proactive safety measure to make the repairs which required a partial shutdown.

"We appreciate the patience our customers showed during this time. We strive to provide safe and reliable service. So addressing this safety hazard was a  top priority," said METRO President and CEO Tom Lambert.

Two-person crews worked around the clock over the last seven days to complete the work. During the shutdown, bus shuttles transported customers along the affected routes.
