Service Restored on METRORail Red Line

Shutdown on Green and Purple Lines Continues

This afternoon crews completed emergency repairs to overhead electrical wires on the Red Line extension. Rail service is now running as scheduled along the entire line from Northline/HCC Station to Fannin South.

Meanwhile, service along the Green and Purple lines remains suspended as work to reinforce electrical wires continues. Free bus shuttles are available along those routes to transport customers, and METRO staff is directing customers.

The emergency repair work and resulting shutdown were initiated last week as a safety precaution after two recent wire breaks alerted staff to the problem.

It is anticipated the entire project will be completed by the end of the week.
