New Transit Connection Now Available in Missouri City

Group Ribbon
METRO Board members Sanjay Ramabhadran and Cindy Siegel along with President & CEO Tom Lambert join Missouri City Mayor Allen Owen, U.S. Rep. Al Green and others for commemorative ribbon cutting.

The Missouri City (MCTX) Community Connector carried its first riders today. A ribbon cutting event kicked off the new service. It is the result of a Missouri City/ METRO partnership.

"I want to express my excitement and gratitude to the leadership of Missouri City for working with METRO staff to make this day a reality. Collaborations like this not only improve mobility for communities but strengthen our region,"  METRO Board Member Cindy Siegel said.

The on-demand, curb-to-destination Community Connector builds on Park & Ride and METROLift services that were previously available, adding another transit connection to "the Show Me City."

"We're tickled to kick this off. We waited a long time to do this. I am one of those who believes mobility is a regional effort. I think for our students and our seniors this is really going to be special," said Missouri City Mayor Allen Owen.

With the first phase now underway, METRO and Missouri City will explore how additional transit connections can be added.

"Adaptability is key to the success of this pilot project we hope will act as a model for those that follow," said METRO President & CEO Tom Lambert.
