METRO Honors Rail Employee for Heroism

Employee Pulls Two Crash Victims From Burning Car

Car accident
Surveillance video captured Leang Ear pulling two crash victims to safety.

When Leang "Terry" Ear came across a car crash in the early hours of Nov. 20, 2017, he knew he had to act. He was in the middle of his overnight shift as a METRORail technician near the 66th Street rail crossing, when a silver car struck a safety barrier. Within minutes the wrecked car became fully engulfed in flames. Ear, along with another passerby, pulled the driver and a passenger to safety with just seconds to spare. Both victims survived.

METRO will honor Mr. Ear for his heroism at the Board of Directors Meeting scheduled for Thursday, Dec.14, 2017 at 10 a.m.
