METRO’s New Bus Network turns one today.  Since the launch of the system overhaul on Aug. 16, 2015, METRO has reached many milestones.  Here are ten:  

  • 150 million boardings on METRORail (since 2004) 
  • 4.5 million customer boardings increase on local bus & rail -
    largest 11-month hike in a decade (September 2015 to July 2015)
  • 4 million Next Bus Arrival Texting requests 
  • 214,000 bike boardings
  • 62,000 Q Mobile Ticketing purchases
  • 1,600 service & detour alerts
  • 100 new bus shelters installed 
  • 98 seconds average wait time for a Customer Care Center call, down about a minute wait time prior to the New Bus Network
  • 50 new CNG Buses (compressed natural gas) buses added to METRO’s fleet of 1,220 buses, which include clean diesel and hybrid vehicles
  • 16 transit agencies (and growing) seeking METRO guidance on redesigning transit systems
