Better Connections Mean Freedom from Complexity

With METRO's revamped transportation network, moving around Houston has never been easier. The transformed network of bus routes launched on August 16, 2015, offers better connections which means it's more convenient and user-friendly.

Riders now have access to more destinations. A quick glance at our transit map shows how easy it is to get from point A to point B, or even point C. Whether you're looking to find a local museum, a new restaurant or you're just trying to get home, METRO has a route that can get you there. Start planning with METRO's Trip Planner.

The better-connected system is more intuitive and it's what makes our high-frequency routes possible. Located in key corridors, these routes help riders save time and money getting around town because there's less waiting and less reliance on a complicated transit schedule.

Giving people access to more destinations often means transfers are necessary, but METRO planners worked hard to get the best of both worlds. Today, only 54% of trips require a transfer - a slight 3% increase over the old system. Riders have adjusted to the changes. Here’s what some had to say after the launch.

The Houston region is dynamic and growing. METRO routes are designed to serve the city's largest job and activity centers. Though developed to meet the needs of today's commuters, the network is also designed to grow with the multi-centered region of the future.
