METRO Shifts into High Gear for Launch of New Bus Network  

Big Changes This Weekend at Local Bus Stops

WHAT:  Media Availability to provide details of the major operation that will unfold the day before the start of the New Bus Network, including bus stop sign modifications, deployment of street teams, and extended customer service hours,

METRO is changing the way the region gets around with an innovative system of routes designed to get more people where they want to go.  The new routes are more frequent with better connections and expanded weekend service.  As part of the launch, METRO is offering free rides for a week beginning Sunday, Aug. 16, 2015 to Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015 on its local bus service and light rail.  METRO will also launch Next Bus Arrival Texting on Aug. 16.

The Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO) is the region’s largest public transit provider, offering safe, reliable and affordable transportation services about 370,000 times per day. METRO operates more than 1,200 buses, and METRO's New Bus Network is coming August, 2015.
