Hurricane Harvey data
reporting moves to quarterly schedule
Effective
immediately, companies are required to report Hurricane Harvey data quarterly,
not monthly. The next Hurricane Harvey data call submission is for data through
March 31, 2018, and must be received no later than April 16, 2018.
Details
On
September 21, 2017, the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) issued Bulletins
B-0034-17 and B-0035-17, requiring all admitted and surplus lines insurance
companies to report data under TDI's Hurricane Harvey Data Call. These
bulletins required companies to report data monthly 15 calendar days after the
last day of each month. Companies are required to maintain this reporting
schedule until notified by TDI (see Deadline and Submission on Page 19 of the
Hurricane Harvey data call reporting instructions).
This
email serves as formal notice of a change in the reporting guidelines for
Hurricane Harvey.
The
next Hurricane Harvey data call submission must be for data through March
31, 2018,
and must be received no later than April 16, 2018. Thereafter,
companies must report quarterly no later than 15 calendar days after the last
day of each quarter (if the 15th falls on a weekend or holiday then the due
date is the next business day). Companies must continue reporting quarterly until
the insurer receives notice from TDI regarding changes to the reporting
guidelines.
This
means companies are not required to submit monthly data on or before February
15, 2018.
This
change in reporting schedule does not waive any reporting requirements in
effect before this change. TDI expects all companies to provide, or to have
provided, complete and correct submissions that were originally due October 31
(first submission), November 15 (second submission), December 15 (third
submission), and January 16, 2018 (fourth submission).
Companies
that submitted "no exposure" or "no claims" submissions are
not required to report data until the company receives its first Hurricane
Harvey claim. After that, the company must begin reporting quarterly.
