JYNNEOS Vaccine Available August 1

Recommendations for Use of the JYNNEOS® Vaccine  

ACIP recommends vaccination with the two-dose JYNNEOS® vaccine series for persons aged 18 years and older at risk for mpox. Providers should administer JYNNEOS® as a two-dose series given 28 days apart, or as soon as possible if more time has elapsed. 

Mpox Vaccine TVFC Program Eligibility   

People 18 years of age who meet one of the following eligibility criteria may receive TVFC vaccines:   

• Enrolled in Medicaid or Medicaid-eligible  

• Uninsured  

• Underinsured 

• American Indian or Alaskan Native  

• Enrolled in the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP)   

Underinsured 18-year-olds are only eligible for TVFC vaccines to the extent their insurance does not provide coverage and defines them as a person with health insurance, but the coverage:   

• Does not include vaccines;    

• Covers only selected vaccines; or   

• Sets a fixed dollar limit or cap on vaccine coverage. Copays do not count as underinsured. 

Provider Vaccine Choice   

The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) Immunization Program updated the providers’ vaccine choice page in VAOS to include JYNNEOS®. Providers can adjust their vaccine choice as needed. To update vaccine choices, follow these steps:   

• Access the VAOS Provider Portal and select Vaccine Choice from the top menu bar.  

• Select the ordering facility from the drop-down menu and make your choice of selections. Once completed, click submit.  

• Return to the homepage and select Reporting and Ordering to place a vaccine order.
