Texas Vaccines for Children (TVFC) and Adult Safety Net (ASN) program providers,
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shared updates on vaccine availability impacting the TVFC and ASN programs. The information below includes the following updates:
- TVFC and ASN Vaccines Removed
- COVID-19 Ordering Availability
- Vaccine Choice
TVFC and ASN Vaccines Removed
On April 1, 2024, four vaccines were removed from the TVFC program, and one vaccine from the ASN program. These vaccines remain available for ordering in TVFC and ASN until existing inventory is depleted at the central distributor. Ordering will be disabled in the Vaccine Allocation and Ordering System (VAOS) once inventory is depleted.

COVID-19 Ordering Availability
The COVID-19 vaccine availability is changing in preparation for the 2024-2025 respiratory season, starting in the fall of 2024. Product availability is based on the expiration date of the central distributor’s current supply. Aside from the products with no anticipated supply constraints, ordering will be disabled in VAOS as the following vaccines become unavailable.

Providers should consider the limited supply and nearing expiration dates before ordering the COVID-19 vaccine to prepare for these updates. Additional information on strain composition and availability of COVID-19 vaccines for the upcoming respiratory season will be available in the coming months.
Vaccine Choice for Providers
In accordance with Tex. Health & Safety Code §161.01035, TVFC and ASN providers are allowed to choose preferred vaccine brands and presentations from formularies. Providers may update their vaccine choice to select alternative products to order. Follow these instructions for VAOS choice updates.
