The following medically diagnosed conditions have been added as qualifying diagnoses for Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) services:

 ICD-10 Code

 Medically Diagnosed Condition

P07.14

Other low birth weight newborn, 1000-1249 grams

P07.15

Other low birth weight newborn, 1250-1499 grams

Listed under Q93.5

Deletion of Long Arm Chromosome 12, also known as 12q21 deletion syndrome

Children under 36 months of age with one of these medically diagnosed conditions are now considered automatically eligible for ECI services.

The ECI Qualifying Diagnosis Search page has been updated and should be used for searching any diagnoses to determine whether it is an automatic qualifier for ECI services.

ECI’s qualifying medically diagnosed conditions are periodically reviewed and updated by a panel of physicians at the request of the ECI program when specific diagnoses are recommended by ECI contractors or other stakeholders. If you have a medical diagnosis you would like considered, please send an email with the specific diagnosis, ICD-10 code, and any supporting documentation to eci.policy@hhs.texas.gov.
