Immunization Quality Improvement for Providers (IQIP) and Responsible Entities (RE)

What is IQIP? The Immunization Quality Improvement for Providers (IQIP) is the national, Vaccines for Children (VFC) provider-level quality improvement program. The focus of the program is to support the implantation of strategies in provider offices to increase on-time vaccination of children and adolescents.

Spring Break Schedules and Deliveries

Ensure that provider hours are current in Syntropi, and closure dates are listed in the comments section of orders. DSHS did not black out shipping dates, which may become problematic if providers are closed during spring break. Responsible Entities will continue to approve or hold orders as necessary to ensure that vaccines are delivered when providers’ staff are available.

Did You Hear the News About Flu Ordering?

For the 2021-2022 influenza season, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has provided a one-time only allocation of influenza doses for the Adult Influenza Vaccine Initiative (AIVI) to be used for uninsured adults 19 years of age or older. AIVI influenza vaccine is now available to be ordered and shipped to all eligible Texas Vaccine for Children (TVFC) program providers to vaccinate their uninsured adult population. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Standards for Adult Immunizations Practices: Assessment

One of the best ways to increase adult vaccination coverage is to follow the National Vaccine Advisory Committee (NVAC) Standards for Adult Immunization Practice. These standards provide the foundation of strategies for healthcare providers to implement in their clinical settings to ensure their adult patients are provided access to important immunizations. 2022 Immunization Schedules Published

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently published the 2022 Child and Adolescent Immunization Schedule and Adult Immunization Schedule.

Providers are encouraged to review these updated schedules to determine needed vaccines based on age and to practice co-administration at every opportunity. COVID-19 vaccines may be administered without regard to timing of other vaccines. This includes simultaneous administration of COVID-19 vaccine and other vaccines on the same day.
