Federal Vaccines for Children Program Vs. Texas Vaccines for Children Program

The Federal Vaccines for Children (VFC) and the Texas Vaccines for Children (TVFC) Programs provide vaccines at no cost to children who may not otherwise be vaccinated because of inability to pay. Click here to learn more about these programs, how they are related, and their differences.

Materials Available for National Influenza Vaccination Week

This year's National Influenza Vaccination Week (NIVW) will be December 5-11, 2021. NIVW is a call to all Americans 6 months and older to get their annual flu vaccine if they have not already.

Flu remains a significant public health concern, and this week will serve to remind people that there is still time to get a flu vaccine—the only vaccine that protects against flu—to prevent flu illness and potentially serious complications.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have produced tools to promote this important message. Access the NIVW digital toolkit at https://www.cdc.gov/flu/resource-center/nivw/index.htm.

NEW Age Indication for FLUCELVAX® QUADRIVALENT (Influenza Vaccine)

FLUCELVAX Pre-filled (NDC 70461-0321-03) and Multidose Vials (NDC 70461-0421-10) are now approved for patients 6 months and older, and it's available through the Texas Vaccines for Children (TVFC) Program. This applies to your current 2021-22 Flucelvax stock as well as Flucelvax doses that will be offered during Open Ordering.

The Immunization Unit will send a notification to all TVFC providers, of the start date for Open Ordering soon. However, Responsible Entities should be prepared for any questions from TVFC Program participants.
