As part of the Texas Vaccines for Children (TVFC) and Adult Safety Net (ASN) Program requirements, all participating clinics must maintain up-to-date patient population information. Please review this important process now.

Free Resources Promoting National Immunization Awareness Month

Each year, August is designated as the month to spotlight the importance of vaccinations for everyone—from young children to pregnant women to adults. Throughout National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM), take advantage of the CDC’s variety of tools to communicate with healthcare professionals, parents, and patients during August and the rest of the year.

Vaccine Choice Opening August 9

Beginning Monday, August 9, you may update your vaccine choices through the Electronic Vaccine Inventory (EVI) system. In EVI, the "Update Choice" tab will be open at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 9 and close at 3 p.m. on Friday, August 20.

If you do not wish to make any changes to your current vaccine choices, no further action is needed. The next opportunity to update your vaccine choice will be in November 2021.

Shingrix No Longer Offered by ASN Program in September

Beginning September 2021, the recombinant zoster vaccine (Shingrix) will no longer be available under the Adult Safety Net (ASN) Program. Providers will not see the 1-pack (NDC 58160-0819-12-A) or 10-pack (NDC 58160-0823-11-A) presentations of Shingrix available for ordering in the EVI Portal. The ASN Program encourages providers to prepare for this change beginning in September 2021.

2021 AAP Pediatric Infectious Diseases Virtual Course Sept 11-12

The American Academy of Pediatrics is hosting the “2021 AAP Pediatric Infectious Diseases Virtual Course: A Comprehensive Review for Primary and Subspecialty Practitioners" from September 11-12. The course has been designed with content and specific presentations to meet the educational needs of primary care and subspecialist pediatricians and other practitioners with an interest in pediatric infectious diseases and focuses on current information that can be utilized immediately in practices.

CDC and WhatsApp Launch “Mi Chat Sobre Vacunas COVID”

To help Spanish-speaking communities find information about vaccine locations and get answers to frequently asked questions, the CDC and WhatsApp, a multiplatform messaging app, launched “Mi Chat Sobre Vacunas COVID" with the goal of increasing vaccination rates among Latinx Americans.
