COVID-19 Update: FPUC, PUA, and PEUC Payments Ending

All Programs

The State of Texas is ending its participation in the federal pandemic unemployment compensation and assistance programs. The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) will issue final FPUC, PUA, and PEUC payments with benefit week ending (BWE) June 26, 2021. TWC will continue to pay regular state unemployment benefits to eligible claimants.

Staff should continue to follow policy in MEPD and TW Bulletin 21-06, 3. COVID-19 Update: FPUC; 4. COVID-19 Update: PUA; and 5 COVID-19 Update: PEUC, released on April 2, 2021, regarding treatment of the federal pandemic unemployment compensation and assistance until the payments end.

When processing any case actions that contain these payments, staff must follow regular policy and procedures to end all FPUC, PUA, and PEUC payments that are still active in the Unearned Income LUW, based on the last payment date the unearned income is received OR using the last payment date of BWE June 26, 2021, whichever comes first.

Note: As a reminder, people might receive their final federal pandemic unemployment compensation and assistance payments after June 26. Staff can determine the pandemic unemployment payments have ended by seeing that benefits for the BWE July 3, 2021, should be reduced by the amount of FPUC, PUA, and PEUC.
