Central Division encompasses a large, diverse area that includes the Downtown Business community, Near Southside (Hospital District), Texas A&M downtown campus, and many historic neighborhoods immediately surrounding these areas. Included in the boundaries are the major shelters for homeless individuals and families. The business, medical, and educational communities located within this division create a significant transient population commuting to and from work each day. After business hours, the Central Business District transforms to a vibrant entertainment venue consisting of many popular restaurants, bars and events.

The City of Fort Worth recognizes the sacrifices made by Texas veterans and their families. To honor their service and ensure they receive the support they deserve, we offer programs for veterans that provide crucial one-time financial assistance for rent, mortgage and utilities, helping to prevent homelessness and stabilize the lives of our veterans and their families.
Our veteran programs are funded by grants from the Texas Veterans Commission. In addition to the programs managed by the Neighborhood Services Department's Community Action Partners, other programs are available throughout Tarrant County to support veterans and their families.
The City of Fort Worth has two programs that may assist with emergency financial relief and housing repairs to eligible veterans and their families.
Forward Home Program
Open to veterans, military who are on active duty and surviving spouses.
• Rent, mortgage, and utility payments to prevent Texas veterans and their families from becoming homeless. • Preference will be given to discharged veterans versus active duty; if funds are running out, we will serve veterans first.
Healthy Homes for Heroes Program
The Healthy Homes for Heroes Program helps Tarrant County homeowners in need of emergency or mechanical system home repairs. Repairs are limited to once every 12 months based on eligibility.
- Accessibility modifications such as ramps, grab bars, bathroom modifications, door widening and handrails.
- Health and safety repairs such as heating and air, water and sewer, unstable rotten flooring, electrical system failures and leaky roofs.

Our quality after school programs are community-driven, expanded learning opportunities that support cognitive, social, physical, and emotional outcomes. In addition, these programs offer a balanced curriculum of academic support, cultural enrichment, and recreation. Programs are designed for children that have advanced through Pre-K and are at least in kindergarten.
