Friends and Neighbors,
February is a month that reminds us how history shapes our present and future. As we recognize Black History Month, we honor the stories, contributions, and leadership that continue to define Fort Worth. Across our city, Black history is woven into our neighborhoods, businesses, and community spaces It’s not just something to reflect on, but something we actively build upon every day.
This month is also an opportunity to connect. On Saturday, February 22, I hope you will join me for our District 11 Town Hall, where city departments will be on hand to answer questions and share updates. This is your chance to ask about the issues that matter most to you, from infrastructure to public safety to upcoming projects. We know our community has plenty of questions, and we want to help get them answered.
In this newsletter, you will find city updates, upcoming events, and ways to stay engaged. Thank you for your continued involvement in shaping our district. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Febrero es un mes que nos recuerda cómo la historia da forma a nuestro presente y futuro. Al reconocer el Mes de la Historia Afroamericana, honramos las historias, contribuciones y liderazgo que siguen definiendo a Fort Worth. En nuestra ciudad, la historia afroamericana está tejida en nuestros vecindarios, negocios y espacios comunitarios. No es solo algo para reflexionar, sino algo que seguimos construyendo día a día.
Este mes también es una oportunidad para conectar. El sábado 22 de febrero, espero que nos acompañen en nuestro Foro Comunitario del Distrito 11, donde los departamentos de la ciudad estarán disponibles para responder preguntas y compartir actualizaciones. The Fort Worth Public Library and Fire Department offer free hands-only CPR and AED training in February. No certification provided. Spanish interpretation available. More info here.

FREE TAX PREPARATION ASSISTANCE
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax preparation services to individuals and families meeting income requirements. Certified volunteers are available at select Fort Worth libraries and community centers, including Greenbriar, Northside, and Southside. COWTOWN GREAT AMERICAN CLEANUP
Join Fort Worth's largest annual litter cleanup and beautification event on Saturday, March 29, 2025, from 8 to 11 a.m. Registration is now open. Participants can choose to clean up at designated hub sites or select their own public areas. Free supplies and t-shirts are provided to registered volunteers. CAMP FORT WORTH 2025
Registration for Camp Fort Worth 2025 opens March 1. The camp runs June 9 – August 1, Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., for children ages 5 to 13. Cost is $65 per week, including registration and one camp t-shirt. Scholarships and discounts are available. For more information, visit the Camp Fort Worth page.

TELECOMMUNICATIONS WIRE THEFT ON THE RISE
Fort Worth has seen a sharp increase in telecommunications wire theft, causing service disruptions and costly repairs. The Fort Worth Police Department is investigating and urges residents to report suspicious activity. More info here.

 Street Closure on W. Bewick Street (S. Jennings Street to May Street)
To expedite the construction project for Worth Heights Street Improvements, the Transportation & Public Works Department will close a portion of W. Bewick Street from S. Jennings Street to May Street, starting February 10 and reopening on May 10. Please make accommodations to your travel schedule during this time. Please also see the detour map to accommodate traffic for this road closure. Please contact the City of Fort Worth project manager or the inspector below if you have any questions.
