  Loop 1604 North Expansion Project
Closure Notice
Major closures will not be scheduled during the Easter holiday weekend (4/18 – 4/21).
As part of the Loop 1604 North Expansion project, TxDOT has planned several weekend closures across the corridor at Hausman Rd., the I-10 interchange, and Stone Oak Parkway. The closures will allow crews to continue drainage work, bridge construction and paving operations.
Major closures will not be scheduled during the Easter holiday weekend (4/18 – 4/21).
Closures are scheduled to occur at various times from 9 p.m., Friday, April 11 through 5 a.m. Monday, April 14, weather permitting. Closures may open early as work is completed.
A summary of major traffic impacts is listed below.
Loop 1604 at Hausman Rd.

- Loop 1604 eastbound mainlanes will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday.
Loop 1604 & I-10 Interchange

- Loop 1604 mainlanes and frontage roads will be closed in both directions from 9 p.m. Friday until 9 p.m. Saturday.
- I-10 westbound mainlanes will be closed during overnight hours (9 p.m. to 5 a.m.) throughout the weekend.
- Loop 1604 eastbound mainlanes and frontage road will be closed from 9 p.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Monday.
- The flyover ramp from eastbound Loop 1604 to westbound I-10 will remain open all weekend.
Loop 1604 at Stone Oak Parkway

- Loop 1604 westbound mainlanes will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday.
TxDOT is committed to scheduling closures that create the least impact to traffic and allow work to be completed safely. Drivers are encouraged to consider the construction schedule as they plan commutes and keep this important information in mind:
- Access to businesses will remain open during construction.
- Law enforcement officers will assist with traffic flow at intersections.
- Closures may open early if work is completed, and the road is safe for drivers.

Detour information for traffic through the closures is listed below.
Loop 1604 EB Mainlanes between Bandera Road and Hausman Road Traffic traveling on the Loop 1604 EB mainlanes will exit via the Hausman Road exit ramp, entering the Loop 1604 EB frontage road. Traffic will re-enter the Loop 1604 EB mainlanes via the next entrance ramp, just before Hausman Road.
Loop 1604 EB Frontage Road and Mainlanes at the I-10 Interchange Traffic traveling on the Loop 1604 EB frontage road and mainlanes looking to continue through the I-10 interchange will enter the Loop 1604 EB mainlanes and follow signs for I-10 EB, entering the I-10 EB mainlanes. They will exit via Exit 557, entering the I-10 EB frontage road. They will then use the turnaround at UTSA Boulevard to enter the I-10 WB frontage road, keeping right to enter the Loop 1604 EB frontage road. Traffic will be able enter the Loop 1604 EB mainlanes via the first available entrance ramp.
Loop 1604 WB from the Stone Oak Parkway exit ramp to the Blanco Road entrance ramp Loop 1604 WB mainlane traffic will exit via the Stone Oak Parkway exit ramp and continue on the Loop 1604 WB frontage road and can re-enter the Loop 1604 westbound mainlanes via the Blanco Road entrance ramp.
Loop 1604 WB Mainlanes, Frontage Road, and to I-10 at the I-10 Interchange Traffic traveling on the Loop 1604 WB mainlanes looking to continue through the I-10 interchange will exit via the Loop 1604 WB frontage road exit just before the I-10 interchange. They will keep right and enter the I-10 WB frontage road. Those looking to access I-10 WB may enter the I-10 WB mainlanes via the first available entrance ramp. Those looking to access I-10 EB or return to Loop 1604 WB will use the turnaround at La Cantera Parkway, entering the I-10 EB frontage road. Travelers will then enter the I-10 EB mainlanes. Those looking to continue to Loop 1604 WB will follow signs to Loop 1604 WB. Traffic will be able to enter the Loop 1604 WB mainlanes via the first entrance ramp after the I-10 interchange.
I-10 EB Frontage Road and to Loop 1604 EB and WB Traffic traveling on the I-10 EB frontage road looking to continue through the Loop 1604 interchange will enter the I-10 EB mainlanes via the entrance ramp (just south of La Cantera Parkway). They may exit via Exit 557 to re-enter the I-10 EB frontage road. Those looking to access Loop 1604 EB will use the turnaround at UTSA Boulevard to enter the I-10 WB frontage road, keeping right to enter the Loop 1604 EB frontage road. Traffic will be able enter the Loop 1604 EB mainlanes via the first available entrance ramp. Those looking to access Loop 1604 WB will turn right onto Via La Cantera and follow it to the Loop 1604 WB frontage road.
I-10 WB Mainlanes and to Loop 1604 EB and WB Traffic traveling on the I-10 WB mainlanes will take the frontage road Exit 556 B exit ramp (just north of UTSA Boulevard, entering the I-10 WB frontage road. Those looking to access Loop 1604 EB will keep right onto the Loop 1604 EB frontage road, entering the Loop 1604 EB mainlanes via the first available entrance ramp. Those looking to re-enter the I-10 WB mainlanes may use the first available entrance ramp after the Loop 1604 interchange. Those looking to access Loop 1604 WB will continue on the I-10 WB frontage road through the Loop 1604 interchange and turnaround at La Cantera Parkway, entering the I-10 EB frontage road. Travelers will then enter the I-10 EB mainlanes and follow signs to Loop 1604 WB. Traffic will be able to enter the Loop 1604 WB mainlanes via the first entrance ramp after the I-10 interchange.
Background The Loop 1604 North Expansion is a Texas Clear Lanes project aimed at enhancing safety, improving mobility and reducing congestion along 23 miles of Loop 1604 from SH 16 (Bandera Rd.) to I-35. This $1.4 billion project includes the expansion of mainlanes from a 4- to 10-lane expressway, high-occupancy vehicles (HOV) lanes in each direction, a multi-level interchange at I-10, an innovative intersection at Blanco Road, and bicycle and pedestrian accommodations on the frontage roads.
The expansion is planned in six segments with four segments currently under construction.
- Segment 1, from SH 16 to I-10, is on schedule to be complete in 2025.
- Segment 2, the Loop 1604 and I-10 interchange, is on schedule to be complete by 2027. The first flyover ramp opened December 2024 and a second ramp is on schedule to open in 2025.
- Segment 3, from I-10 to US 281, is on schedule to be complete by early 2026.
- Segment 4, from US 281 to Redland Road, is on schedule to be complete by 2027.
- Segment 5, from Redland Road to Judson Road, began construction spring 2025.
