 WHAT TO EXPECT
As part of the Loop 1604 North Expansion Project, TxDOT will close the US 281 northbound (NB) and southbound (SB) frontage roads at the Loop 1604 interchange, and the Loop 1604 eastbound (EB) and westbound (WB) turnarounds. The Loop 1604 WB mainlanes from Gold Canyon Road to the US 281 interchange and the Loop 1604 EB mainlanes from Stone Oak Parkway to the US 281 interchange will also be closed, but not simultaneously, for bridge construction.
These weeknight only closures will occur from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Sunday, Feb. 23, 2025 through Friday, March 14, 2025, weather permitting. Please note these are the minimum closures required for the anticipated work. All closures are subject to change and modification as necessary. Law enforcement will direct traffic through intersections during this time, as needed.
DETOUR INFORMATION
US 281 NB Frontage Road Detour
All traffic looking to continue on the US 281 NB frontage road through the Loop 1604 interchange will turn right onto the Loop 1604 EB frontage road and will use the turnaround at Gold Canyon Road to access the Loop 1604 WB frontage road. From the Loop 1604 WB frontage road, travelers may turn right to re-enter the US 281 NB frontage road.
US 281 SB Frontage Road Detour
All traffic looking to continue on the US 281 SB frontage road through the Loop 1604 interchange will turn right onto the Loop 1604 WB frontage road and will use the turnaround at Stone Oak Parkway to access the Loop 1604 EB frontage road. From the Loop 1604 EB frontage road, travelers may turn right to re-enter the US 281 SB frontage road.
Loop 1604 EB and WB Turnarounds at US 281
All Loop 1604 EB or WB traffic looking to use the turnarounds at the US 281 interchange will continue on the frontage road to the next available turnaround.
Loop 1604 EB Mainlane Detour
All Loop 1604 EB traffic will access the Loop 1604 EB frontage road via the exit just before the US 281 interchange. Travelers will continue on the Loop 1604 EB frontage road through the US 281 interchange. Travelers may re-enter the Loop 1604 EB mainlanes via the first available entrance ramp.
Loop 1604 WB Mainlane Detour
All Loop 1604 WB traffic will access the Loop 1604 WB frontage road via the exit just before the US 281 interchange. Travelers will continue on the Loop 1604 WB frontage road through the US 281 interchange. Travelers may re-enter the Loop 1604 WB mainlanes via the first available entrance ramp.
