Closure Notice
Westbound I-10 closed at Loop 1604 interchange this weekend
Minor closures scheduled for this weekend at the Loop 1604 & I-10 interchange beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, November 22.
As part of the Loop 1604 North Expansion project, TxDOT has planned the closure of the westbound mainlanes of I-10 at the Loop 1604 interchange in northwest San Antonio for the weekend of Nov. 22, 2024. The eastbound mainlanes of Loop 1604 will be closed Friday night only. Additional minor closures will take place around the interchange.
These closures will allow crews to install steel beams and continue the construction of the flyover ramps at the interchange. Steel beam work is currently 80% complete with 120 beams in place. The first flyover ramp is scheduled to open by the end of the year, connecting drivers from eastbound Loop 1604 to westbound I-10.
Closures are scheduled to occur from 9 p.m., Friday, Nov. 22 through 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25, weather permitting.
TxDOT is committed to scheduling closures that create the least impact to traffic and allow work to be completed safely. Drivers are encouraged to consider the construction schedule as they plan activities and keep this important information in mind:
- Access to businesses will remain open during construction.
- Law enforcement officers will assist with traffic flow at intersections.
- Closures may open early if work is completed, and the road is safe for drivers.

This is the last weekend closure of the year at the Loop 1604 and I-10 interchange. Major weekend construction closures will not be scheduled between Thanksgiving through the end of the year (11/27 – 12/31).
Please note, construction schedules are subject to change and weather permitting. Additional closures may be scheduled on other segments of the Loop 1604 North Expansion project.

 WHAT TO EXPECT
As part of the Loop 1604 North Expansion Project, TxDOT will require closures of the Loop 1604 eastbound (EB) and westbound (WB) frontage road at the I-10 interchange, Loop 1604 EB mainlanes from the Vance Jackson Road exit ramp to the Lockhill Selma Road entrance ramp, Loop 1604 EB mainlanes double-right-lane closure from Chase Hill Boulevard to La Cantera Parkway, the Loop 1604 WB collector-distributor at the Loop 1604 interchange, the I-10 WB mainlanes and collector-distributor at the Loop 1604 interchange, the I-10 WB mainlanes double-right-lane closure from north of the Loop 1604 interchange to Camp Bullis Road, the I-10 EB frontage road north of Loop 1604, and the I-10 EB exit ramp south of La Cantera Parkway (Exit 556 B). Additionally, the I-10 WB to Loop 1604 EB exit ramp, the Loop 1604 WB to I-10 WB exit ramp, and all four cloverleaf ramps will be closed. These closures will be in place for bridge construction.
The closures are expected for one night only from 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, 2024, through 5 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024, weather permitting. Please note these are the minimum closures required for the anticipated work. All closures are subject to change and modification as necessary. Local law enforcement will direct traffic through intersections during this time.
DETOUR INFORMATION
I-10 EB and to Loop 1604 EB
All travelers on the I-10 EB frontage road will enter the I-10 EB mainlanes north of Loop 1604 and follow signs for Loop 1604 WB. They will utilize the ramp from I-10 EB to Loop 1604 WB, enter the Loop 1604 WB collector-distributor, and follow it to the Loop 1604 WB frontage road. They will utilize the turnaround at La Cantera Parkway, entering the Loop 1604 EB frontage road. Travelers will follow the Loop 1604 EB frontage road to the I-10 EB frontage road. Those looking to return to the I-10 EB mainlanes may via the first available entrance ramp. Those looking to access the Loop 1604 EB mainlanes will follow the I-10 EB frontage road to the UTSA Boulevard turnaround. Travelers will follow the I-10 WB frontage road back to the Loop 1604 EB frontage road and may enter the Loop 1604 EB mainlanes via the first available entrance ramp.
I-10 WB and to Loop 1604 EB and Loop 1604 WB
All travelers on the I-10 WB mainlanes will exit to the I-10 WB frontage road via Exit 556 B. Travelers looking to access Loop 1604 EB will follow the I-10 WB frontage road to the Loop 1604 EB frontage road. Travelers may enter the Loop 1604 EB mainlanes via the first available entrance ramp. Travelers looking to re-enter the I-10 WB mainlanes will follow the I-10 WB frontage road through the Loop 1604 interchange and enter the I-10 WB mainlanes at the first available entrance ramp. Travelers looking to access Loop 1604 WB will follow the I-10 WB frontage road to the La Cantera Parkway turnaround. Travelers will enter the I-10 EB mainlanes north of Loop 1604 and follow signs for Loop 1604 WB. They will utilize the ramp from I-10 EB to Loop 1604 WB, enter the Loop 1604 WB collector-distributor, and follow it to the Loop 1604 WB frontage road. Travelers may enter the Loop 1604 WB mainlanes at the first available entrance ramp.
Loop 1604 EB Frontage Road and to I-10 WB
All travelers on the Loop 1604 EB frontage road looking to continue through the I-10 interchange will follow signs for I-10 EB and follow the I-10 EB frontage road to the UTSA Boulevard turnaround. Travelers will follow the I-10 WB frontage road back to the Loop 1604 EB frontage road. Travelers on the Loop 1604 EB mainlanes looking to access I-10 WB will exit to the Loop 1604 EB frontage road via the Vance Jackson Road exit. They will follow signs for I-10 EB and follow the I-10 EB frontage road to the UTSA Boulevard turnaround. Travelers will follow the I-10 WB frontage road through the Loop 1604 interchange and enter the I-10 WB mainlanes via the first available entrance ramp.
Loop 1604 WB Frontage Road and to I-10 EB
All travelers on the Loop 1604 WB frontage road looking to continue through the I-10 interchange will follow signs for I-10 WB and follow the I-10 WB frontage road to the La Cantera Parkway turnaround. Travelers will enter the I-10 EB mainlanes north of Loop 1604 and follow signs for Loop 1604 WB. They will utilize the ramp from I-10 EB to Loop 1604 WB, enter the Loop 1604 WB collector-distributor, and follow it to the Loop 1604 WB frontage road. Travelers on the Loop 1604 WB mainlanes looking to access I-10 EB will continue through the I-10 interchange and exit to the Loop 1604 WB frontage road. Travelers will utilize the turnaround at La Cantera Parkway, entering the Loop 1604 EB frontage road. Travelers will enter the Loop 1604 EB mainlanes via the first available entrance ramp before the I-10 interchange and follow signs for I-10 EB. Travelers will utilize the ramp from Loop 1604 EB to I-10 EB to enter the I-10 EB mainlanes.

All travelers on the I-10 EB frontage road will enter the I-10 EB mainlanes north of Loop 1604 and follow signs for Loop 1604 WB. They will utilize the ramp from I-10 EB to Loop 1604 WB, enter the Loop 1604 WB collector-distributor, and follow it to the Loop 1604 WB frontage road. They will utilize the turnaround at La Cantera Parkway, entering the Loop 1604 EB frontage road. Travelers will continue on the Loop 1604 EB frontage road, following signs for I-10 EB.
I-10 WB and to Loop 1604 EB and Loop 1604 WB
All travelers on the I-10 WB mainlanes will exit to the I-10 WB frontage road via Exit 556 B. Travelers looking to access Loop 1604 EB will follow the I-10 WB frontage road to the Loop 1604 EB frontage road. Travelers may enter the Loop 1604 EB mainlanes via the first available entrance ramp.
