  Loop 1604 North Expansion Project
BRIDGE DEMOLITION AT
BLANCO ROAD & LOOP 1604
Eastbound and westbound Loop 1604 will be closed at Blanco Road this weekend for bridge demolition. Both directions of Blanco Road over Loop 1604 will also be closed.
As part of the Loop 1604 North Expansion project, TxDOT has planned the closure of the eastbound and westbound mainlanes of Loop 1604 at Blanco Road in north central San Antonio for the weekend of Nov. 8, 2024. Both directions of Blanco Road will also be closed at the Loop 1604 intersection.
These closures will allow crews to demolish the original Blanco Road bridge across Loop 1604. The new bridge opened to traffic last weekend.
Closures are scheduled to occur from 9 p.m., Friday, Nov. 8 through 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11, weather permitting.
Once the work is complete on Monday, Nov. 11, drivers will continue to use the new Blanco Road bridge to travel through the Loop 1604 intersection. Crews will continue construction on the remaining improvements to the intersection.
TxDOT is committed to scheduling closures that create the least impact to traffic and allow work to be completed safely. Drivers are encouraged to consider the construction schedule as they plan activities and keep this important information in mind:
- Access to businesses will remain open during construction.
- Law enforcement officers will assist with traffic flow at intersections.
- Closures may open early if work is completed, and the road is safe for drivers.

Please note, construction schedules are subject to change and weather permitting. Additional closures may be scheduled on other segments of the Loop 1604 North Expansion project.

 DETOUR INFORMATION
Loop 1604 eastbound and westbound mainlanes
Travelers on the Loop 1604 EB or WB mainlanes will exit via the Blanco Road exit ramp and continue on the frontage road lanes, then can re-enter the EB or WB mainlanes via the Blanco Road entrance ramp.
Blanco Road northbound
Travelers on Blanco Road NB will take the Loop 1604 EB frontage road to the turnaround at Stone Oak Parkway. Traffic will continue on the Loop 1604 WB frontage road lanes back to Blanco Road NB.
Blanco Road southbound
Travelers on Blanco Road SB will take the Loop 1604 WB frontage road to the turnaround at Huebner Road. Traffic will continue on the Loop 1604 EB frontage road lanes back to Blanco Road SB.
