As a result of legislation passed during the 87th Legislative Session, the following specialty license plates will be available for purchase on December 20, 2021:

  • Make-A-Wish
  • Family First
  • Borinqueneers Congressional Gold Medal
  • Disabled Veteran Borinqueneers Congressional Gold Medal
  • Presidential Service Badge
  • Disabled Veteran Presidential Service Badge
  • United States Navy Submarine Service Enlisted
  • United States Navy Submarine Service Officer
  • Disabled Veteran United States Navy Submarine Service Enlisted
  • Disabled Veteran United States Navy Submarine Service Officer

The following documents have been updated to reflect the new plate availability:

  • Military Plate Guide
  • Disabled Veteran Military Plate Guide
  • Military Plate Brochure
  • Disabled Veteran Military Plate Brochure
  • Application for Military Service License Plates (Form VTR-420)
  • Application for Military Meritorious Service License Plates (Form VTR-421)
  • Application for Disabled Veteran License Plates and/or Parking Placards (Form VTR-615)
  • Application for Specialty License Plates (Form VTR-999)

The updated guides are available on the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) Tax Assessor-Collectors Hub webpage at https://www.txdmv.gov/tax-assessor-collectors.  The guides can be found on the bottom left side of the page under “Guides.”  Below is a screenshot showing the location of the guides.

The brochures are available on the TxDMV Motorists “For Our Troops” webpage at https://www.txdmv.gov/motorists/for-our-troops.  Both brochures appear on the Military License Plates tab.  Below is a screenshot showing the location of the brochures.
