Mail System and Self-Issue Dimensions to Change for TxPROS

As a reminder, on December 20, 2017, the TxDMV is moving to a centralized mail process for annual permits issued through the Texas Permitting and Routing Optimization System (TxPROS). All permits that must be mailed (permits that require a windshield sticker or a print out on TxDMV security paper) will be sent via U.S. Postal Service (USPS) First Class Mail. Other delivery options such as USPS Priority Mail, FedEx, Lone Star, and any other priority/overnight delivery options are now discontinued.

Additionally, self-issue dimensions will increase in TxPROS.

TxPROS users currently can self-issue certain permit types within TxPROS when the overall size and weight of the vehicle and load fall within the self-issue envelope dimensions of:

16 feet wide,
16 feet - 6 inches high,
110 feet long, and
180,000 pounds gross weight.

Effective December 20, 2017, the self-issue envelope dimensions in TxPROS will increase to:

20 feet wide,
18 feet - 11 inches high,
125 feet long, and
199,999 pounds gross weight.
