County Equipment Refresh Project Update

Good afternoon,

As the County Equipment Refresh project nears the halfway point, we would like to provide you an update on our progress thus far. As of January 24, 2017, 241 county offices have received new RTS workstations and printers. By late February, we will be approximately 50% complete with the scheduled roll-out. We are happy to report that the project is currently ahead of schedule and appreciate the cooperation of the county offices.

We also want to thank the completed sites for the feedback we have received. Completed offices consistently praised the speed and efficiency of the process, as well as the professional and courteous demeanor of the on-site support staff.

Moving forward with the second half of the project, we would like provide you with some tips and lessons learned with the workstation and printer deployments already completed.

  • If your scheduled equipment refresh date is not convenient, you can request to be rescheduled by contacting your RSC Manager.
  • The shipper of the equipment is responsible for unloading the new equipment scheduled for installation and loading the old equipment for return to TxDMV. If the shipper does not unload/load the equipment, TxDMV requests that the county deny the shipment and contact their Regional Service Center (RSC) Manager.
  • All project related shipping costs are paid by TxDMV. If your county inadvertently receives an invoice for shipping the equipment, please contact Chris Sturm at chris.sturm@txdmv.gov and copy your RSC Manager on the email. We will work to quickly resolve the issue.
  • After the new equipment has been installed, individuals who have a Cognos account will need to use their Cognos password to login to the new RTS workstations.
  • TxDMV will conduct follow up calls after each office receives the new equipment to gather feedback.
  • If you experience any issues with any of the new equipment within the first 30 days after installation, please contact your RSC Manager to report the issue and TxDMV will schedule a technician to return to your site. Any issues that occur more than 30 days after installation should be reported to the TxDMV Service Desk.

If you have any additional questions or concerns, please contact your Regional Service Center Manager.

Best regards,
