Process & Handling (P&H) fees on registration transactions

 

 

Good afternoon,

 

The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles would like to confirm the Registration and Title System (RTS) is applying the processing and handling (P&H) fee to registration transactions as designed.

 

As a reminder, the P&H fee applies to all new registrations and registration renewals that expire after January 1, 2017. For registrations expiring in 2016, the fee is assessed as follows:

 

2016 late registration renewals

• Valid reason - $4.75 P&H fee IS charged

• Invalid reason - $4.75 P&H fee IS NOT charged

Note: For December registration renewals processed in January, leave the invalid reason selected in RTS to prevent the P&H fee from being assessed.
