St. Patrick's Day events to be held Saturday March 14
Dallas - Balancing the needs of Dallas residents, visitors, participants and event promoters, the City of Dallas announce the details of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival events to be held Saturday March 14 on Greenville Avenue.
A collaborative effort between Dallas Police Department, Dallas Fire and Rescue, Office of Special Events, Code, Sanitation and Parking Enforcement will minimize the impact on the surrounding community with extensive controls on noise, cleanup, parking, security and safety.
Dash Down Greenville 5K - The 5K race starts at 8 a.m., at 5200 Greenville Avenue (south of Lovers Lane). It will proceed north on Greenville Avenue, right on Caruth Haven, left on Southwestern, right on Skillman, right on E. University, right on Greenville in the northbound curb lane and return to the start/finish line. Dallas St. Patrick’s Day Parade - The parade starts at 11 a.m. in the 6700 block of Greenville Avenue and Blackwell Street. It will proceed south on Greenville Avenue to SMU Boulevard, after making a right on SMU Boulevard the parade will disband. Parade sponsors will set up on the 5600 block Milton. There will be a family zone in the Meadows Building parking lot. A Brew Fest will take place in the Office Max parking lot and a Mavericks area will take place in the CVS parking lot. The parade is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and cleanup will conclude at 4 p.m.
Additional event closures include Milo Butterfingers at 5645 SMU Boulevard to close southbound Greenville between Park Lane and Mockingbird from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Northbound Greenville will close at 10 a.m. and reopen immediately after the parade ends and Greenville Avenue has been cleaned of all trash. Southbound Matilda (west side of street) will be closed from Milton to Sand Hurst from 8 a.m. to noon. For more information visit www.dallasstpatricksparade.com or call 214-600-1533.
Dallas Observer St. Patrick’s Day Concert: The event will start at the conclusion of the parade. The post party event and concert will be held in a private parking lot at 4849 Greenville Avenue. Closures will include the westbound, inside lane of University between Greenville Avenue & the parking garage. Event Parking Restrictions:
‘No Parking’ signs will be installed 24 hours in advance in the CVS and Office Max parking lots, on both sides of University Blvd. from Skillman to Greenville Ave. and along the Central Expressway service road from Mockingbird Lane to Park Lane. These locations will be monitored and citation enforced. Any vehicles found parked along the Central Expressway service road will be issued a citation and towed.
Lower Greenville St. Patrick’s Day Block Party: This event will start at 9 a.m. The event will be located at 2800-2900 Greenville Avenue; bounded by Ridgedale to the north and Vickery to the south. Entry in to the event site will be controlled by private security positioned at approximately (5) gated entrances. Stan’s Blue Note, Terilli’s, The Dubliner, Blue Goose, The Grape, Greenville Bar and Grill, and Dodie’s are participating in this celebration. The event will involve barricading Goodwin between Worcola and Matilda and 5600 Vanderbilt between Worcola and Greenville starting at 9:00 a.m. and will reopen at 8:00 p.m. Greenville Avenue between Vanderbilt and Vickery will close at 9 a.m. and will reopen at 8 p.m. North and southbound traffic on Greenville Avenue will be detoured east to Matilda. The following streets will be designated one-way westbound streets between Greenville and McMillan from 9 a.m. – 8 p.m.: Monticello, Ridgedale, Vanderbilt, Goodwin, Vickery, and Miller. The following streets will be designated one-way eastbound streets between Greenville, and Matilda from 9 a.m. – 8 p.m.: Marquita, Vanderbilt, Goodwin, Vickery, Llano, and Velasco. Setup for the event will begin at 6 a.m. and cleanup will conclude at midnight.
Event Parking Restrictions: ‘No Parking’ signs will be in place 24 hours prior to the beginning of the event to designate no parking areas in this neighborhood on the following streets:
- Westbound from Greenville Avenue to Homer Street (no parking on one side): Morningside Avenue, Mercedes Avenue, Merrimac Avenue, Monticello Avenue, Ridgedale Avenue, Vanderbilt Avenue, Richard Avenue, Bonita Avenue, Belmont Avenue, Richmond Avenue, and Melrose Avenue.
- Eastbound from Greenville Avenue to Skillman Avenue (no parking on both sides): Belmont Avenue, Richmond Avenue, Prospect Avenue, Oram Avenue, La Vista Drive, and Lewis Street. Worcola between McCommas and Richard will be designated
Any vehicles found parked in these designated ‘No Parking’ areas or a restricted parking location be issued a citation. Any vehicle found parked in a manner that is deem a traffic or safety hazard will be issued a citation and towed.
