Public Meetings Begin Tuesday for New Park Master Plan

Park Department To Create Recreation Master Plan

Citizens can share ideas at community meetings planned for August 5-7

 

 

(DALLAS) — Dallas Park and Recreation Department next week will hold several community for residents to share ideas relating to the future growth and expansion of Dallas’ recreational programs and facilities. The department is in the first phase of developing a recreation master plan as well as updating its overall comprehensive strategy known as the Renaissance Plan.  

 

The public can attend any of five meetings set to begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday, August 5 through Thursday, August 7 at City of Dallas recreation centers:

Park and reception staff will lead the meetings that will give individuals and groups the opportunity to share comments, ask questions about the strategic planning process, and hear a summary of the department’s progress toward the Renaissance Plan.

 

Once completed and adopted by city officials, the master plan will be the department’s first all-inclusive blueprint that specifically addresses the ever-changing trends in municipal recreation programs, facilities and leisure opportunities. The Renaissance Plan was implemented in 2002.

 

This award-winning department is among the nation’s largest urban park systems, offering residents and visitors of all ages year–round access to exceptional recreational opportunities and facilities. The department cares for almost 24,000 land and water acres that include 379 parks, 100 trail miles, athletic fields, and natural areas. It manages and operates 39 recreation centers, 6 golf courses, 6 tennis centers, Bahama Beach Waterpark and Fair Park, including the legendary Cotton Bowl Stadium.
