LGBT Taskforce Spirit of Equality Awards Wednesday at City Hall

 

Dallas - The Dallas Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) Task Force will kick off National Pride Month with its First Annual Spirit of Equality Awards at noon Wednesday at Dallas City Hall, 1500 Marilla St. The LGBT Task Force will present its Spirit of Equality Awards to advocates and allies.


Councilmember Adam Medrano, District 2, will present a proclamation to the Task Force signed by Mayor Mike Rawlings designating June as Pride Month in Dallas. The Resource Center is also donating books from its former library to the Dallas Public Library. This donation will significantly expand the collection of LGBT material in the Dallas Public Library system.

 

The Dallas Public Library will host a series of events and activities to celebrate LGBT Pride Month. These activities include:  

  

Solid Talk: Building Confidence in You - 6 p.m. Thursday June 12

Oak Lawn Branch Library, 4100 Cedar Springs Road

LGBT Book Club
- 6:30 p.m. Thursday June 19

North Oak Cliff Branch Library, 302 W. 10th St.


Join Peter Coyl and Ray Sablack for a discussion of favorite LGBT books. Please bring your favorite LGBT themed book with you. We will also be officially christening the new LGBT Collection at the North Oak Cliff Branch Library. Refreshments provided.
