Reliant Energy kicks off Summer Beat the Heat Program

Sponsoring a Cooling Center at MLK Community Center

 

What:              Reliant Energy continues its dedication to the well-being of its customers and local communities by offering several summer assistance programs, including Reliant Beat the Heat Centers in Houston, Dallas and Corpus Christi, bill payment assistance, and flexible payment options. Since 2005, Reliant has contributed nearly $8 million through its CARE energy assistance program to help Texans manage summer electricity costs.    

Reliant Energy will sponsor a cooling center at the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center starting in June 2014. Participants will be allowed to “beat the heat” in an air-conditioned building during business and high-heat hours through September 30, 2014. In addition to an air-conditioned space, the center will offer bottled water, snacks, and activities. The program will take place Monday through Friday, from 10:00AM to 4:00PM.

A press conference will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at 12:00PM at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center to kick off the Beat the Heat program.

Where:            The Martin Luther King Community Center, located at 2922 Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard. The press conference will be held in the front lobby.
