One Thirty Productions Announces World Premiere of "Finishing School" - March 5 to 22 at the Bath House Cultural Center

DALLAS: Dallas actors Larry Randolph, John S. Davies, Ellen Locy and Catherine DuBord star in “Finishing School,” a new two-act, four-character comedy by Dallas playwright Elaine Liner. The play debuts March 5-22, 2014, produced by the all-matinee One Thirty Productions at Dallas’ Bath House Cultural Center, in cooperation with the City of Dallas and the Office of Cultural Affairs. Gene Raye Price directs.

Randolph and Davies play Wizzer and Al, new friends at an upscale assisted living facility. Wizzer, the community’s oldest resident, helps navigate Al into getting the most out of life at what may be his last address. The two men meet everyday for their morning ritual—reading the obits, or as they call them “The senior citizen’s sports page”—they talk about sports, the women they have loved and lost, and their shared fears of ending up in “The Cove,” the facility’s much-dreaded “memory care unit.” Locy and DuBord play the mother and daughter who bring a fresh perspective to the men’s lives and shake up Al’s world.

Liner, who wrote the play specifically for Randolph and Davies, says she never really forgot the insecurities she felt in high school and notes ”being the new kid is always tough. You need to find that senior pal to help you figure things out. It just happens that in this play, the freshman is 70 and the upperclassman is 92.”

The production brings together a cast of consummate professionals with long and varied careers onstage and in film. While Davies and Randolph are favorites with One Thirty audiences, both Locy and DuBord are making their first appearances with the company.

Performances take place at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 5 through Saturday, March 22, 2014. All seats are reserved and reservations are strongly recommended. Ticket prices range from $10-$14. For additional information, group sales and reservations call the Box Office at 214-532-1709.

The production, directed by Gene Raye Price, opens One Thirty Productions’ seventh season at the Bath House Cultural Center at 521 E. Lawther, Dallas TX 75218.
