SERVICE ALERT: Bulk/Brush Garbage Collection
City of Dallas sent this bulletin at 07/24/2012 08:40 AM CDTSubject: It’s Coming…July 30!
Dear Homeowner/Neighborhood Association Volunteer,
We at the City of Dallas appreciate all you to do help keep your neighbors informed about vital city services. Because one of the most misunderstood services is Bulk/Brush Garbage Collection, we want to make sure you have extra information to share with your members.
There will NOT be any bulk/brush garbage pickup in the City of Dallas during the week of July 30—August 3. Residents should not place any items out for collection after Thursday, July 24 for collection during the week of July 30 through August 3. This is because the week of July 30 is a “5th Monday week”.
Dallas Sanitation Services picks up brush/bulk garbage on a four Monday week cycle. During 5th Monday weeks, staff receive training and are able to take vacation and other scheduled leave as needed. Residents who leave brush/bulk garbage out for collection when it’s not their collection week risk getting a $500 citation for out-of-cycle bulk. These citations can be issued at the first occurrence. So during months such as July (and August), it’s especially important for residents to count “Monday weeks” in order to find out their correct brush/bulk garbage collection week.
We know this could all be potentially confusing to anyone who isn’t counting the Mondays, so we’re asking that you please share the attached reminder ad with your neighbors in your newsletter or regular email. We also ask that you also advise residents to count the Mondays and know their collection week.
If you’d like to have one of our friendly district staff to review your neighborhood’s bulk/brush collection service and schedule during one of your HOA/NA meetings, please contact Danielle McClelland at d.mcclelland@dallascityhall.com or 214-670-3555.
