Take a look back at all of the work and engagement that has happened over the past month with our various Code Compliance Divisions!

A Season of Gratitude
In every organization, there are people whose work quietly ensures that the rest of us can do ours. For Code Compliance Services, one of those anchors is Mrs. Mae.
This season of giving offered our Consumer Health leadership team an opportunity to pause and express our gratitude for someone whose contributions often happen behind the scenes and impact every person who walks through our doors. As our facility housekeeper, Mrs. Mae plays a vital role in maintaining safe, sanitary conditions in a building that sees heavy foot traffic from both staff and the public. Her care, consistency, and pride in her work help set the foundation for the service we provide to our community.
In recent weeks, Mrs. Mae has faced personal challenges. Our team felt it was important to remind her just how deeply she is valued. The staff gathered to uplift her spirits, celebrate her dedication, and let her know that she remains an essential and cherished member of the CCS family.
We are truly honored to recognize Mrs. Mae’s invaluable contributions. We are so grateful for the light she brings to our workplace every single day.

CCS Demolition Unit completes 1st CDBG Funded Demolition
The CCS Demolition Unit has completed its first demolition funded through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), marking a significant milestone for the program. This year, the unit received $300,000 in additional CDBG funding to remove court-ordered and structurally compromised properties located in HUD-recognized low-to-moderate income census tracts across the city.
On November 4, 2025, the team conducted its first qualifying demolition and anticipates completing 9–12 projects, depending on site conditions such as building size, materials, hazards, and equipment availability.
This initiative aims to eliminate public safety threats by removing structures that are beyond repair and often serve as hubs for criminal activity, including squatting, dumping, drug use, and gang presence—conditions that jeopardize nearby residents, particularly children and seniors, and contribute to neighborhood decline.
The CDBG-funded Demolition and Clearance Program is a key component of the city’s efforts to stabilize neighborhoods, enhance public safety, and support future revitalization and redevelopment.

A Gesture of Dignity: Southwest Team Supports West Dallas Women’s Shelter
The Women’s Shelter in West Dallas shared a critical need: many women and children arrive with only the clothes on their backs after fleeing abusive situations, and when they are ready to transition into their own homes, their belongings are often placed in black trash bags.
Wanting to restore dignity and hope in these moments of transition, NCR Olga Sauceda and Officer Eric Carter partnered with the shelter to provide something simple yet meaningful—luggage. Their goal was to ensure that each woman and child could leave the shelter carrying their belongings in a suitcase rather than a trash bag.
To support this effort, they organized a luggage drive here at Southwest Division, which received an overwhelming response. With the help of several community groups, they delivered the donated suitcases to the shelter. In addition to luggage, the community also contributed shoes, clothing, makeup, purses, essential items, detergent, snacks, and other much-needed supplies.
Their dedication extends far beyond customer service; it represents genuine compassion and care. We are proud to work alongside such remarkable individuals as NCR Sauceda and Officer Carter.

Inspiring Future Leaders: Consumer Health Connects with Walnut Hill ILA Students
The Consumer Health Division had the exciting opportunity to engage with more than 75 students at Walnut Hill International Leadership Academy. Our team shared not only their career journeys and academic paths, but also the true heartbeat of their work: a passion for science and a commitment to protecting public health across Dallas.
This marks our second consecutive year partnering with Walnut Hill ILA, and the impact continues to grow. Students asked thoughtful, informed questions and gained a deeper understanding of how public service shapes the communities they call home.
We look forward to continuing this meaningful partnership and inspiring even greater interest in STEM and community impact in the years ahead.
