Dallas County pilots a Dollar-for-Dollar Employer Match for Child Care- a first for Texas! The program empowers Dallas businesses to support working parents with $3,000 annual subsidy and childcare access through Tootris. See FLYER for more information.

The Student Care Network is made up of four departments at Dallas College: Student Care Coordination , Basic Needs and Community Connections , Counseling and Psychological Services , and Health Services .  These offices and work closely together as a team to support the whole student. Matthew Jones work explores the disconnect between our urban society and the natural world. Some of the landscapes are First Nations sites while others are sublime tracks of land that so stirred the hearts of men in the 19th century that a federal park system was established to ensure they remained a part of our cultural identity. 2025 Dallas Heart Walk- 8:45am Saturday Oct 18

9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital die. In most of those cases, bystander CPR was not performed. But we can change this. Cardiac arrests happen at work, in homes, on athletic fields and in neighborhoods everywhere, and the readiness of our community can be the difference between life and death. The State Fair of Texas- Friday Sep 26 to Sunday Oct 19

The State Fair of Texas is excited to announce the free entertainment lineup for the 2025 State Fair. Hundreds of activities are spread throughout the fairgrounds during all 24 days of the State Fair, free with your admission ticket. Celebrating all things Texan is central to the State Fair’s nonprofit mission and providing entertainment that appeals to our diverse mix of fairgoers – for the music lovers singing their hearts out at every concert, the auto enthusiasts browsing the latest and greatest models at the Texas Auto Show, the families looking for educational exhibits infused with Fair fun, and everyone in between. Heart House Volunteer Opportunity-

Join Heart House in providing essential one-on-one tutoring to the children of refugee and immigrant families in the Vickery Meadow neighborhood of Dallas. Our diverse student population at McShan and Jill Stone Elementary Schools in Dallas ISD come from at least 15 countries and speak over 30 languages and dialects. Most of our students are Emergent Bilinguals. We offer a structured reading intervention program to support their reading and language acquisition skills. See FLYER for more information.

Mobile Food Pantry- 1:00 to 3:00pm, 3rd Wednesday of Every Month

Mobile Food Pantry: Volunteer Opportunity- 3rd Wednesday of Every Month

Vickery Meadow Mobile Food Truck- 9:30am 4th Friday of Every Month

Brother Bills Free Grocery & Produce-

FREE Food for Seniors-

People And Nutrition (PAN) is a Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) that provides nutritious foods at no cost to eligible participants. Those who are eligible can qualify for a box of nonperishables in addition to what they currently receive. See BILINGUAL FLYER for more information.

Wilkinson Center Food Pantry-

The Wilkinson Center Food Pantry is FREE to residents living in zip-codes 75217, 75227, & 75228. For more information click HERE.

Dallas College Drive-Thru & Community Pantry-

Thanks to Dallas College and North Texas Food Bank, community members can access free food on campus during “Drive-Thru Pantry” and “Community Pantry” days. There is no need to register for either event. Click HERE for more information.

Community Empowerment: Digital Ambassadors-  

Connected Dallas  can help your organization by providing direct support to your community via their Digital Ambassadors assist with affordable internet plans, Texas Benefits Application Assistance, device access, troubleshooting, and multilingual support. Also, by enhancing your events with digital skills and tech support. They provide registration assistance, tech help, and digital skills workshops, covering topics like Digital Skills 101, Online Safety, Excel, Google Docs, and more, ensuring attendees gain valuable knowledge. Services for Seniors-

The Community Council of Greater Dallas and Dallas Area Agency on Aging, & Dallas County are keeping older adults active. They provide meals and transportation services for seniors. See FLYER for more information.

211 Texas-

Dallas College Food Pantries-

Hungry or concerned about being able to put food on the table? Dallas College's food pantries are here to help. The pantries are located on our seven main campuses. Supplies range from snacks and meals to diapers. Everything is free. Students can shop the pantry any time it is open. Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program (CEAP)-

Emergency Air Conditioner-

FIFA World Cup 26 Volunteers-

The FIFA World Cup 26™ is coming to North America, and we’re looking for passionate, energetic volunteers. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age, commit to a minimum of 8 shifts, and be available for the duration of the tournament, including the application process and training. Volunteers must have a good command of English – and knowledge of other languages is an added bonus! We want the very best in North Texas to welcome the world to our great region. Building the Future for West Dallas Youth- 6:00 to 7:00pm Oct 2, 14, & 16

Toyota hosts this series of meetings in the community to help increase awareness of the many programs and services that are available for parents, children, students, and extended families that are a part of the collaborations in West Dallas.  Neighbors are invited to attend a meeting; help build awareness of the opportunities to join the variety of programs available through the community’s partnership with Toyota. Vickery Meadow Youth Development Foundation (VMYDF) is committed to empowering the Vickery Meadow community with knowledge and resources. We’ve compiled materials from our Know Your Rights workshops into an easily accessible folder, available to the public. Local Kitchen: Grow, Cook, and Eat Seasonal, Local Grown Produce- 6:30 to 8:00pm Mondays Sep 29 to Nov 17

The 8-week program sessions will include preparing a recipe together and visiting about the nutritional value of the foods. Participants will learn to grow and prepare seasonal produce. Tent’s Mentorship Program for Refugees

The Tent Partnership for Refugees, a network of over 400 major companies committed to connecting refugees to work worldwide, runs a professional mentorship program for refugees in the U.S. where refugee mentees are individually paired with a mentor from a major company (e.g. Hilton, Pfizer, PayPal) with a similar professional background. The goal of Tent’s mentorship program is to help mentees better navigate the U.S. job market and advance in their careers. There is no fee to join this mentorship program, and all forcibly displaced migrants in the U.S. are eligible to participate, including asylum seekers, asylees, humanitarian parolees, refugees, TPS holders, and victims of human trafficking. Refugees who speak English or Spanish are eligible to participate.

For organizations interested in referring their refugee clients to Tent’s refugee mentorship programs, please email us at mentorship@tent.org. NGOs who email us will receive email templates, draft social media posts, and flyers (available in English and Spanish) that would make it easy for them to share information about the mentorship programs with their refugee clients. These resources contain a link to a brief registration form that refugees need to complete to sign up, and Tent uses this information to match them with a mentor based on similar professional interests.

For organizations looking to connect their refugee clients to work opportunities, Tent would also be happy to co-host any hiring events with local organizations. We’ve successfully co-hosted dozens of refugee hiring events across the country in partnership with city governments and local NGOs. While local organizations take the lead on planning the event and inviting refugee candidates, we can invite our 200+ Tent U.S. members to participate and lead an information session on best practices for recruiting refugee talent for participating recruiters. Upwardly Global-

Upwardly Global is reaching out with some good news during this challenging time. We're pleased to share that we've recently updated and expanded our eligibility criteria making it possible to serve even more work-authorized newcomers to rebuild and restart their professional careers in the U.S. This new update means that a broader range of immigrants and refugees can now access our free, personalized career coaching and comprehensive job readiness training. 

Here are the key eligibility changes: 

  • We will now serve people who have lived in the U.S. up to 10 years (adjusted from 7 years)
  • Applicants may be based anywhere in the U.S. – no limitations on states served

Dallas 311 allows City of Dallas residents and visitors to request City services. Submit and track your service request on the website or by downloading the Dallas 311 mobile app. Create a free login account and view detailed service request updates online or via the mobile app.

Code Compliance

The City of Dallas Code Compliance Department consists of three divisions: Neighborhood Code, Nuisance Abatement, and Consumer Health.  Code Compliance ensures city codes, and ordinances are maintained, so Dallas continues to be a clean and safe city. Code Compliance does this by working with neighborhoods by providing education and building partnerships with non-profits, neighborhood associations, and other City of Dallas departments.
