PID Plans Approved by City Council

On August 27, 2025, the Dallas City Council approved a 2026 Service Plan, which includes a budget, assessment rate, and assessment roll, for each of its 15 Public Improvement Districts (PID), including the two newest PIDs: RedBird and Far East Dallas. PIDs are special districts formed via a property-owner-driven petition process to fund supplemental services beyond what the City of Dallas normally provides. They can provide supplemental services such as enhanced security, landscaping, street cleaning, marketing and neighborhood improvements, among other allowable services, as determined by its budget and needs as established in the service plan.

New Funding to Support Moving Image Industry

On September 1, 2025, $300 million will be available in a biennial fund for the Texas Moving Image Industry Incentive Program (TMIIIP). The $300 million investment will be made every two years over the next 10 years. This represents the largest investment to date into TMIIIP after the Texas legislature approved additional funding for the program in June. The TMIIIP supports film, television, commercial, animation, visual effects, video game and extended reality production projects. More information can be found at the Texas Film Commission website.
