Get Active in August
Transform your wellness program with Active in August fitness challenge and get a Universal Fitness Center pass to 39 City of Dallas fitness centers. Registration is $25 for adults and $10 for youth. Be the grand prize winner and get a one-year City of Dallas fitness membership. Pop-up classes and social meetups at some of Dallas’ most scenic parks will keep you motivated. To participate, visit a Dallas recreation center to register.
Gear up for Dallas Golden Games
Registration is under way through September 5 for Dallas Golden Games September 3-13. This Olympic-style contest showcases athletes 50 and older in 11 sports and leisure events including track and field, pickleball, swimming, tennis, billiards, bowling, dominoes, and chair volleyball. The opening ceremony on September 2 at City Park will feature the popular Parade of Athletes. Find event details and schedules here.
Sign Up Now for Youth Sports Leagues
Teamwork, discipline, positive self-image, leadership development – the benefits of youth sports are endless.
Dallas Park and Recreation Department has soccer and NFL Flag Football coed leagues for ages 4 to 14. Registration is $45 per athlete per sport. It doesn’t matter if your young athlete has previous play experience! Register in person at a Dallas recreation center or click soccer and football for league information.
Hay Day Hustle is coming to Runyon Creek Trail
Get ready to run — or stroll — into fall at the Hay Day Hustle, a festive 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run hosted by Dallas Park and Recreation and the University of North Texas Dallas. on. The race kicks off on the scenic Runyon Creek Trail at the UNT Dallas campus on Saturday, October 11 with the 1-Mile Fun Run at 8 a.m. and 5K at 8:30 a.m. The event is open to all ages and fitness levels. participants to sport their favorite flannel as they enjoy a flat, tree-lined course. All runners will receive a commemorative T-shirt, medal, and race bib. After crossing the finish line, stick around for the Hay Day After Party, a lively fall-themed festival featuring vendor fair, kids’ zone, food trucks, music, and photo ops. Race registration is open at Race Roster.
Stay on top of your health
Dedicate a day to your health and wellness at Journey To Wellness Community Fair at 11 a.m. on August 16 at Thurgood Marshall Recreation Center, 5150 Mark Trail Way, Dallas 75232.
Enjoy free wellness screenings and activities including massages and haircuts provided by 30 local vendors. The event features school supplies giveaway and family-friendly entertainment with a DJ, bounce houses, and inflatable games.

City Park
The relaxing sounds of the legendary saxophonist Rob Holbert and the Rob Holbert Group come to City Park at 6 p.m. on August 21.
The park’s Chautauqua Pavilion hosts the free performance and is located at 1515 S. Harwood St., Dallas 75215.
