Compassion in Action: The Echo Mowing Team Steps Up
At City of Dallas Code Compliance, we believe true leadership is rooted in compassion and care for others. We’re proud to recognize Adrian Allen, Delton Richards, Sharome Johnson and Vincent Bussey for their exceptional compassion and quick actions to help someone in need.
During their lunch break, these team members noticed a young woman possibly having a seizure in the middle of the street. Without hesitation, Sharome directed Adrian to call 911, while Vincent and Delton helped render aid and reassure her that help was on the way. Together, they placed towels under her head to prevent further injury — a simple act that showed remarkable care and character.
Their quick thinking, teamwork, and genuine care remind us that service excellence starts with simple, selfless acts of kindness.
Please join us in thanking Sharome, Vincent, Adrian, and Delton for reminding us of what it truly means to lead with heart. 💙
Keep Dallas Beautiful!
Dallas Celebrates First
Love Your Block Mini-Grant Award Winners
The City of Dallas proudly hosted its inaugural Love Your Block (LYB) Mini-Grant Awards Ceremony in the Flag Room at City Hall. The event was filled with energy, excitement, and a shared sense of community pride.
Neighbors, resident leaders, city staff, and community partners came together to celebrate 30 neighborhood projects that received over $45,000 in mini grants to help transform blocks across 11 council districts. These projects range from colorful murals and public art to litter cleanups, native plant gardens, community education, and creative ways to build more resilient, connected neighborhoods.
Love Your Block – Dallas is part of a national Cities of Service initiative supported by Bloomberg Philanthropies and managed by the Bloomberg Center for Public Innovation at Johns Hopkins University. Since joining the program, Dallas has become part of a powerful network of cities working to bridge the gap between local government and residents, one block at a time.
As the first cycle of Love Your Block moves forward, the real work is happening on the ground. Over the coming months, these 30 projects will continue to grow and take shape. Residents can expect to see more murals, cleaner streets, and new spaces that bring people together — all led by the neighbors who call Dallas home.
“Love Your Block is about empowering residents to transform their neighborhoods from the ground up. These mini-grants reflect the creativity, pride, and leadership that make Dallas a stronger, more connected city — one block at a time,” said Chris Christian, Director of Code Compliance for the City of Dallas.
We’re already looking ahead to next year’s cycle, when even more Dallas residents will have the chance to apply for mini-grants and bring their creative ideas to life. Together, we’re proving that small actions, when led by community members, can lead to big changes.
