Dallas Park and Recreation has Out of School Time (OST) Programs at Dallas recreation centers and partnering Dallas ISD schools. OST programs mix academic support with recreational activities for students aged 5-12. When the school is over, Dallas Park and Recreation OST is in session!
During National Afterschool Appreciation Week, Dallas Park and Recreation Director John D. Jenkins visited with Out of School Time participants at Leila P. Cowart Elementary School. Director Jenkins began his park and recreation career 32 years ago at Cowart Elementary School, and he’s grateful to see the program is still thriving. The OST collaboration between the City of Dallas and Dallas Independent School District has increased youth's social skills, improved grades, and encouraged healthier lifestyles!
