 On the latest episode of Tap In Dallas, we had the privilege of speaking with Jennifer Nicewander, the City of Dallas' Director of Bond & Contruction Management, who provided insightful details about the recently approved $1.25 billion bond. This bond, which Dallas voters overwhelmingly supported in May 2024, will fund critical improvements to the city, including streets, storm drains, police facilities, and recreation centers. One of the most reassuring aspects of this bond is that it will not result in an increase in taxes. However, the overall needs of the city are much greater, with estimates reaching $18 billion.
Director Nicewander highlighted that while this bond represents a significant step toward addressing the city's infrastructure challenges, ongoing efforts and engagement from the community will be crucial to make sure future funding reflects the needs of all Dallas residents. In excerpts from our conversation, she emphasized:
"This bond is critical for maintaining and upgrading essential infrastructure, but it’s just the beginning. With the gap between what the bond can cover and the city's $18 billion needs, we need the voices of Dallas residents to guide how future bonds will be structured and spent."

National Night Out (NNO) is back, and it’s bigger than ever! On Tuesday, October 1st, neighborhoods across the City of Dallas will come together to celebrate the importance of community and build stronger bonds between residents, police officers, and local leaders.
National Night Out is a nationwide event designed to heighten crime prevention awareness, generate support for local anti-crime programs, and strengthen community-police partnerships. Here in Dallas, we believe that strong neighborhoods are the backbone of a safer, more vibrant city. This is your chance to meet your neighbors, have fun, and learn more about how we can all work together to keep our streets safe.
