Councilwoman Delia Jasso Hosts 3rd Annual Graffiti Workshop

City of Dallas and Councilwoman Delia Jasso Host Graffiti Education          Workshop for Parents and Students

WHAT: Dallas students and parents will have the opportunity to attend Councilwoman Delia Jasso’s 3rd Annual Graffiti Workshop on Saturday,  March 24, 2012, at Felix G. Botello Elementary School. This is an educational workshop where parents/guardians attend sessions led by the Dallas Police Department and Code Compliance. They will receive information on the negative effects of graffiti and the consequences for participating in this sort of illegal activity. Students attending this workshop will participate in an art class led by a Dallas artist, where they will create mural designs and submit them in a competition for the top-three designs.

Local Dallas Cowboys running back #34, Phillip Tanner, will welcome workshop attendees and lead a morning exercise session. Additionally, Gina, the pink “graffiti-busting” giraffe, will also be appearing to entertain workshop attendees and encouraging them to use their creativity for positive pride in their neighborhoods.

This event is absolutely FREE for all attendees, and although this program is targeting students in grades 1- 6, everyone is welcome. A Continental breakfast will be provided.

Parents and students may register for the 2012 Graffiti Workshop by calling (214) 671-8520 or (214) 670-4052. Seating is limited, so please register by Thursday, March 15, 2012. This program will be available in English and Spanish.
