DALLAS – The City of Dallas Department of Aviation will host a ceremony to name its Law Enforcement Building in honor of fallen officer Sergeant Michael Smith. The Dallas City Council approved the naming at its Sept. 22, 2021 meeting.

Sergeant Smith’s life was claimed in the attack on first responders in Downtown Dallas on July 7, 2016. Sergeant Smith worked for DPD for 28 years, including serving the DPD Love Field Unit. The building will officially be named the Sergeant Michael Smith Law Enforcement Building.
