Bike Ride Title

The Department of Transportation’s  Public Service Announcement (PSA) on bike and scooter safety went into “game mode” this past weekend at Dallas Bike Ride 2018 at City Hall.  Dallas is an exciting and beautiful place, and we encourage our citizens to take advantage of the City through all forms of transportation. The Department will continue to provide educational resources on safe roadways and sidewalks for all walkers, bikers, scooters, and drivers in Dallas


Sign Fabrication and Design

The DOT Sign Shop plays a pivotal role in the City of Dallas. Fabricators at the Sign Shop receive work orders from 311 requests, engineers, various city departments, and other municipalities for new traffic signs or sign repairs. The Sign Shop maintains an extensive inventory of traffic signs with the help of a silk screen machine, which allows for signs to be reproduced in-house. Delivering Innovation Store to Door with Marble

Marble

The DOT will enter a pilot phase with Marble, a robot delivery service that travels door to door, delivering anything from packages to food to prescriptions. Using advanced sensors, including LIDAR and cameras, Marble’s robots carefully navigate sidewalks to deliver things right to your doorstep. During the pilot phase, Marble will be limited to specific zones and will operate on fixed routes, with a human operator within 20 feet of the device while in motion.


DOT Kicks - Off Lunch and Learn Series

On October 11, 2018, the DOT kicked-off our Lunch and Learn series. The Lunch and Learn series is an easy way to engage employees and create a workplace where communication, collaboration, and learning are valued. Throughout the year staff from different divisions along with strategic partners will present on a variety of industry related topics.
