Dallas Love Field Relives Ice Skating Past with “Love On Ice” Event
Public Invited to help Dallas Love Field Celebrate 100 Years

DALLAS – Dallas Love Field will ice skate back in time on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. as they host “Love On Ice,” a public event that will recreate an iconic time in Love Field’s history when an ice skating rink was located in the middle of what is now the bustling lobby. As part of the Love Field Centennial, “Love on Ice” is open to the public and will offer ice skating, games and fun for the entire family.

The event will be held at the Dr. Pepper StarCenter in Farmers Branch. Tickets will cost $8 for adults, $5 for children 12 and under, and children under three will be admitted for free. Food and beverages will be available for purchase throughout the event. Tickets will include skate rentals, all ice skating games and unlimited free skate time. Tickets can be purchased online at www.loveonice.eventbrite.com or at the door at the time of the event.

In 1974 through 1978, Dallas Love Field was home to the “Love Field Experience,” as major travel had shifted to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. The most popular attraction at the “Love Field Experience” was the ice skating rink that sat right in the middle of the lobby. As airline traffic once again began to pick up at Love Field, the ice skating rink along with other attractions were closed. Today, Dallas Love Field sees more than 30,000 passengers a day, and offers quite a different experience than it did 43 years ago.
