ADVISORY: President Obama to Travel to Dallas, Texas

WASHINGTON, DC – On Tuesday, July 12th, at the invitation of Mayor Rawlings, the President will travel to Dallas, Texas to deliver remarks at an interfaith memorial service at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center with the families of the fallen police officers and members of the Dallas community whose unity is reflective of who we are as Americans.  He will also meet privately with the families of the fallen police officers and those who were injured to personally express the nation's support and gratitude for their service and sacrifice. The Vice President will attend. President and Mrs. George W. Bush will also attend, and President Bush will deliver brief remarks.

The arrival and departure of Air Force One are open to pre-credentialed media, but closed to the public. The President’s remarks at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center are open to pre-credentialed correspondents and still photographers, and pooled for television, but closed to the public.

Air Force One Estimated Departure Time: 4:20 PM

Media Coverage: The arrival and departure of Air Force One are open to pre-credentialed media.  All names submitted for credentials must be accurate and reflect the identification media presents at checkpoints for entrance. RSVPs do not guarantee access. You will receive a confirmation e-mail if you receive a credential to cover the event.

Live Truck Parking: Live trucks and other vehicles arriving for pre-set should arrive at the above address and drive adjacent to Pegasus Credit Union along the fence line; directed on site.

Media Pre-set Time:  8:00 AM – 9:00 AM (All media with heavy/large equipment and sticks should pre-set equipment on-site. Live trucks MUST park and cable in during this time. Media will not have access to equipment or live trucks during security sweeps from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM).

No Access to Equipment: 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM

General Media Parking: Limited parking is available at address above adjacent to Dalfort Fueling; directed on site.

NOTE: Power, wifi and restrooms will NOT be available. Please be prepared for the outdoor weather conditions. Media may depart the tarmac between the arrival and departure of Air Force One; however, all large equipment needed to cover departure should remain in place. Media who wish to cover the departure should return no later than 3:45 PM. Late arrivals cannot be accommodated.

Media Coverage: This event is POOLED for TV and open to pre-credentialed still photographers and correspondents. Requests for TV and video cameras cannot be accommodated. Space is limited and RSVPs do not guarantee access. NOTE: For television outlets interested in doing live shots outside the Symphony Center, there will be a limited amount of satellite truck parking available on Leonard Street, in between Flora Street and Ross Avenue. Media can do live shots in the garden area along the northeast side of the Symphony Center, in between the Symphony Center and Opera House, near the Box Office.  All satellite truck parking is first-come, first-served and trucks must park between 6:00 AM – 10:30 AM.



Estimated Start Time of Program: 12:40 PM


Media Entrance: Media must enter through the side entrance in the garden area in between the Symphony Center and the Winspear Opera House, along the northeast side of the building.

Media access: 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM. Media will be able to check-in at the marked Media Entrance, located on the northeast side of the Symphony Center, in the garden area in between the Symphony Center and the Winspear Opera House.

Final media access: Final media access will be at 12:00 PM. Late arrivals will not be accommodated.

General media parking: Parking is available for a fee in several lots along Ross Avenue, including in the Lexus Silver garage below the Dallas City Performance Hall, which can be accessed by taking Ross Avenue to Jack Evans Street.

Throw (distance from media balcony to stage): 100 feet

Note: Limited media seating will be available. Wireless internet and power will NOT be available and cell service is limited.
