Mark Cuban to visit Audelia Road Branch Library Tuesday to promote summer reading and the Mayor’s Summer Reading Club

What:    Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks and star of ABC’s Shark Tank joins the Dallas Public Library to promote the importance of summer reading. In support of the Mayor’s Summer Reading Club, Cuban will read stories to the kids and answer a few of their questions.

When:    2:30 p.m. Tuesday June 7

Where:    Audelia Road Branch Library, 10045 Audelia Road

Why:    Mark Cuban is a strong supporter of public libraries, particularly through his partial ownership of Zoobean, founded by Shark Tank contestants. Zoobean provides innovative tools that help public libraries engage local families and build literacy in the community. In summer 2016, Dallas Public Library is implementing the Zoobean product Beanstack as part of the Mayor’s Summer Reading Club.

The Mayor’s Summer Reading Club kicked off Saturday at all 29 Dallas Public Library locations. Presented by the Pizza Hut BOOK IT! Program, it provides incentives to keep children reading during the summer months, help maintain their academic skills, inspire curiosity, and encourage a reading habit to create lifelong readers. And because children model behaviors of the adults in their lives, teens and adults can also join the club.

The Dallas Public Library operates the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library and 28 branch locations. A library card is free for any Dallas resident. For information on the many free programs and services available at the Dallas Public Library visit www.dallaslibrary.org
