City of Dallas Unemployment Rate

Apr16

Source: Texas Workforce Commission, Preliminary values, not seasonally adjusted.

  • The preliminary unemployment rate for the City of Dallas for March 2016 increased to 3.8 percent.

  • The rate’s change was the result of an increase in the net number of unemployed Dallas residents along with an increase in the total size of the city’s labor force.

  • March was the thirteenth consecutive month that the unemployment rate within the City of Dallas has outperformed the state’s unemployment rate.

  • An unexpected increase in the size of the city’s labor force during March (traditionally a non-growth period) could indicate increased confidence in the local economy as discouraged workers return to the labor force.
